Family visit ends

Mom, Christine and Nathan got on the plane this morning to fly back home to Texas. Sad! We had a lot of fun while they were here even though Christine was reminded that I’m really bossy and annoying. :) Gotta love sisters! She can never get rid of me! Muahahahaha!

Ok… so once they got back from Montreal on Tuesday, we had smoked meat sandwiches for dinner and then hung out. On Wednesday, Patrick made a fancy dinner of pork tenderloin, mashed cauliflower, cheesy orzo, and roasted asparagus to thank me for buying new couches (hahaha not really!). We spent that day at the outlets (returning a pair of shoes and buying some unnecessary stuff at the Williams Sonoma store), having lunch at Wendy’s (yum) and going to La-Z-Boy. It was fun but Nathan was tired. That evening we just hung out. Actually, all evenings we just hung out. :)

Thursday, we went to Salem. Christine and I went through the museum while Nathan and Mom just walked around and checked out the sites in the stroller. It was fun but we left so that we could have lunch. We ate at Macaroni Grill (because I KNOW you want to know everything we ate) and then went home after eating too much. :) That night we had stir fry that was only so-so and some leftover eggrolls from the family party on the weekend.

Friday, I had my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon at MGH. I was told that I have several options when it comes to my toe. I could 1. do nothing and deal with the pain, 2. get another cortisone shot and see if that helps it, 3. have surgery to clean out the joint (there’s only a 50-60% chance that it will work), and 4. have the joint fused so that I have a single bone instead of a joint (then it won’t hurt but there’d be no joint and that would be WEIRD.) So I got a cortisone shot. I was afraid that the doctor would try and kill me like the last time I went to get a cortisone shot but this guy was AMAZING. He gave me the shot and I didn’t feel a thing. Last time, I felt every single time he moved the needle and it took him nearly 20 minutes to put the needle in. This doctor did it in about 5 minutes and it was awesome. I was very happy and I left without the throbbing pain that I remembered. Phew! Mom and Christine picked me up from the hospital and then we went to ACMoore to get some prints for my bathroom. Then we went to lunch at Legal Seafood in Harvard Square. We also drove by my work and then back to the house for nap time. Mom felt sick because something on her plate probably touched a scallop (or thought about touching a scallop!) We didn’t do anything all afternoon because of the fussiness of Nathan and the general not-feeling-well in the house. We did go play outside with Paul’s rabbits however! It was so cute! For dinner we had originally planned to get Indian food but since mom wasn’t feeling well, we ordered pizza instead. Yum! Pini’s Pizzaria is the BEST in Somerville (in case you didn’t know). That night everyone packed and got ready to go home and we watched Grey’s Anatomy. We all thought Izzie would die but she didn’t. Oh well. Better luck next episode!

This morning at 5am, someone called the house. It was Northwest Airlines telling me that Mom’s flight was going to be delayed and she wouldn’t be able to make it to her connection in Memphis so they changed their flight from 10am to noon-ish. At least they didn’t all have to get up early! After the goodbyes, Patrick and I cleaned the house and watched some TV. Now we’re selling some stuff on Craigslist and we even put some stuff up for free because we wanted to get rid of it. Go us. We’re pretty boring people in general.
